Jennifer Esteen, RN Announces Endorsement
of Oakland Rising Action
Ashland, CA – Today, Jennifer Esteen, RN announced that she received the endorsement of Oakland Rising Action. Established in 2010, Oakland Rising Action (ORA) is helping shape a vision for Oakland’s future to realize our shared dreams of health, happiness, safety, and opportunity for all.
“Oakland Rising Action is proud to endorse Jennifer Esteen, RN because she represents the shift and change that Alameda County residents so desperately need,” said liz suk, Executive Director of Oakland Rising Action. “We need representation on the Board of Supervisors who will fight for policies and budgets that help all residents thrive, centers protecting tenants, offering expanded public health and mental health services, and offers housing to all — we need more support, not more jails.”
Oakland Rising Action joins a growing list of endorsers supporting Esteen’s campaign including Our Revolution East Bay and dozens of local community leaders throughout Alameda County.
“I’m honored to receive support from the powerhouse organizers at Oakland Rising Action,” said Jennifer Esteen, RN. “As a County Supervisor, I will ensure funds are shifted into community-based, prevention focused, high-quality health care and mental health services to stop the proliferation of spending on jails and failed systems. I will ensure county vacancies are filled by hiring community members who live in our county. I will ensure that our unhoused neighbors receive timely services and are provided dignified and supportive housing, so we all can thrive.”
Jennifer Esteen is a registered nurse, mother, and community leader serving as Vice President of the Alameda Health System Board of Trustees and a member of the Eden Municipal Advisory Council. She has spent her career delivering care to the most vulnerable, including working as a psychiatric nurse in the San Francisco General Hospital Psychiatric Emergency Room, where she saw firsthand the vicious cycle that people experience from diminished funding for mental health care. She is currently working with San Francisco residents who have severe mental illness, need supportive housing, ongoing treatment and help managing activities of daily living. Jennifer has lived in the East Bay for 20 years and has lived in Ashland with her wife and children since 2015.
